EDITORIAL BOARD

Focus was founded by Julie Yen. She is the current editor-in-chief.
She is a senior at Mt. Carmel High School in San Diego, CA. She is
also the editor-in-chief of The Mt. Carmel SUN and an avid shopper.

DERRICK CHAO is a senior at Mt. Carmel High School in San Diego, CA.
He enjoys pseudo-intellectual discussions and long walks on moonlit
beaches. He plays music and enjoys listening to indie/electronica/hardcore
bands. He would like to give a special thanks to Souplantation, Fight
Club, Jamba Juice, ESP Guitars, Boba, Francesca Lia Block, Roberto's
Very Mexican Food, The Simpsons, Japan, The Fucking Champs, and Julie
especially, for letting me write this ridiculous bio.

NAN ZHU

STEPHANIE YEE is a senior at Phoenix Country Day School in Paradise
Valley, Arizona. She is co-Captain of the women's lacrosse team, an
editor of the school newspaper, and a contracted writer. She enjoys
skiing, acting, and referring to herself in third person. She is the
Executive Editor of Focus.

ALICE NIE is a senior at Mt. Carmel High School in San Diego, CA.
She was born in China and came to the U.S. when she was eight. Alice
loves art, drawing, painting, and martial arts. She's also part of
the Chinese Benevolent Lion Dancing Association.

ANA MOHLEJI is a senior at Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego,
CA. Her main activity is Speech and Debate. She believes that Asians
are not well represented in politics and international relations and
hopes to become active individual in that field in the near future.

ANNAMARIE MENDOZA is a senior at Rancho Bernardo High School in San
Diego, CA. She enjoys playing the piano and violin, but not as much
as her life's passion, shopping. In the future, she aspires to have
her own dental practice and living in the Honolulu area.

ANNIE NGUYEN is a political science major at the University of California,
San Diego.She has been a member of the San Diego chapter of the Asian
American Journalists Association since her junior year in high school.
Annie is a second year Emma Bowen Foundation intern at NBC 7/39 and
has written and edited for the Mt. Carmel SUN and AAJALink in Dallas.
Other interests include reading, hanging out with family and friends,
assisting former journalism advisers and theirnewspaper staffs, shopping,
eating and going to the beach.

BEILY PAN is a senior at Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego,
CA. She is bitter teenager living in the suburbs. Beily also likes
web design, lotion, Requiem for a Dream, and cash.

BOW CHINNAPONG is a senior at Mission Bay High School in San Diego,
CA. She enjoys reading both contemporary and classic novels, as well
as playing tennis and spending time with her family. Her greatest
passion is doing community service.

CHRISTY WU is a senior at Marshall High School in Virginia. She is
opinions editor of the Rank and File. Christy loves being a senior,
snow crunching under her feet, and taking apart stuff. She also has
access to unlimited amounts of Chinese food. Best fortune cookie:

CRYSTAL LUONG is recent graduate of Mira Mesa High School in San Diego,
CA. She was the editor-in-chief of The Mira Mesa MARQUEE. Crystal
will attend Pepperdine University this fall.

JERRY LEE is a junior at Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego,
CA. He enjoys reading, listening to music, and playing piano.

JESSICA MARATI is a junior at the Academy of Our Lady of Guam in Guam,
U.S.A. Contrary to popular belief, she does not live in a bamboo hut
nor prance around her tropical island home in a grass skirt. She is
a firm believer that 24 hours in a day simply isn't enough, and she
professes an affinity for anything caffeinated. She likes old school
love songs, cashew chicken, discount shopping and happy endings. She
can't stand Nelly Furtado, laziness and the Teletubbies.

KATE SAETANG is a senior at Northside College Prep in northwest Chicago.
A Thai/Chinese-American, she grew up on French fries, pad Thai, and
instant noodles. Kate says she sucks at math, but compensates by binging
on junk food and other chemicals.

KIMIKO SAITO is a senior at Scripps Ranch High School in San Diego,
California. She has been a student member of AAJA for 4 years. In
her time away from school, Kimiko enjoys participating in musical
theatre. She is going to embark on the adventures after high school
soon and will take with her all she has learned from AAJA.

LAN ZHOU is a junior at Mt. Carmel High School in San Diego, CA. She
enjoys playing the violin, tennis and piano. She is a member of the
Academic League and is also in the San Diego Youth Symphony.

LEILY PAN is a senior at Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego,
CA. She is president of Amnesty International and editor-in-chief
of her school's newspaper. She loves debating and sleeping.

LILY WU is a senior and International Baccalaureate Program student
at Wichita East High in Kansas. She was born in Guatemala and moved
to the U.S. nine years ago. Lily enjoys modeling, pageants, running,
traveling, talking on the phone, and eating good food!!!

MICHAEL WANG is a junior at Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego,
CA. He enjoys sunsets, rainy days, long walks on the beach, punk rock
guitar riffs and mosh pits. If you like peanut-butter and marshmallow
sandwiches and carne asada burritos, you'll like Mike.

MICHELLE LIN is a senior at James Martin High School in Arlington,
TX. She is the editor-in-chief of the Warrior Post. Michelle enjoys
Star Wars, reading, and failing arithmetic.
